Thakur had on Saturday alleged the SP chief had threatened him over the phone, asking him to “mend his ways”.
A day after IPS officer Amitabh Thakur filed a complaint against Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav for allegedly threatening him, a charge of rape was slapped against the cop in Luckonw.
The FIR, at Gomti Nagar police station, named Thakur as an accused in a rape case.
Reacting to the rape charge, Thakur said the complaint against me is a case of political vendetta. In a news conference on Sunday, Thakur said the FIR against me has been filed as I took on Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Thakur had on Saturday alleged the SP chief had threatened him over the phone, asking him to “mend his ways”.
Thakur, an IG rank officer, who had Friday released an audio tape purportedly containing Mulayam’s voice, also wrote to Union Home Secretary seeking security cover for himself and his family. He also wrote to Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan with a similar request and has marked a copy of the letter to DGP Jagmohan Yadav.
Thakur is a 1992 batch IP officer and was transferred 22 time in his 18-year career.
