[ Investing ] Open Question : What happens when a stock changes tickers?

For example GTAT recently filed for bankruptcy and now they are listed under GTATQ. So if you owned GTAT when they suddenly re-listed, are your shares worthless or do you get an equal amount of GTATQ shares?
